Sense of Place: Memory Collages

Thursday May 22, 2025. 6-8pm.

In this hands-on collage workshop, mixed media artist Brianne Burnell invites you to explore your memory of a special place through colour and texture.

Bring a small photo or printed image of a place that holds personal significance—somewhere that feels special or nostalgic to you, such as your family cottage, backyard garden, childhood home, or the lake you swam in growing up —and build a layered collage around it using strips of coloured paper and fabric. 

As you choose collage pieces that reflect the feeling, mood, or colours of your memory, you’ll create a visual tribute that honours the place and the story it holds. This workshop is a quiet, creative way to reflect on your connection to a space that has shaped you.

• Your final collage will be 6” x 8” in size, so please bring a small photo. Ideal sizes are around 3” x 4”, 3” x 3”, a Polaroid, or a postcard cut in half.

• A paper cutter will be available if you need to trim your photo smaller.
• Your photo will be glued into the collage, so only bring a photo you're okay with using it permanently.
